Flamenco guitar music has become more wide-ranging in style and technique. Contemporary flamenco guitar music has been referred to as "gypsy jazz, new flamenco, or nuevo flamenco."

Flamenco is the traditional music of the Gypsies (called flamencos) from southern Spain.
It took several centuries of development before flamenco music came to be accepted by society in general. Later, the term Flamenco was used to describe the songs, dance, and musical style of the Gypsy people. With the popularity of flamenco spreading throughout the world, flamenco guitar music has become more wide-ranging in style and technique. Some flamenco music is now being referred to as "modern flamenco."
Whether you call it traditional, contemporary, or modern, flamenco guitar has a definite identifiable sound that sets it apart from all other forms of guitar music.
